Blog - A taste of summer

19th August 2010
Here is a little taste of summer for you to enjoy. A shot that for me is full of the atmosphere of the lovely long, warm evenings we have at this time of year. I would like to say that this was the culmination of a day spent relaxing on the beach, and enjoying the seasonal weather.

However the truth is that I was having a ‘mare’ of a day, and just dashed out to the beach to try and grab a shot before the sun bid farewell. This is from Crantock, which is a lovely picturesque beach, and just a stones through from Newquay. However that thrown stone would be cast across the river Gannel, and its this natural barrier which ensures Crantock remains free from the hustle and bustle of Newquay.

Crantock is a great place to unwind after a difficult day, and as I climbed the sand dunes, my nostrils were filled by the scent of cooking BBQs mixed with salty sea air.

The sun was slipping behind the clouds as I set-up the camera on the tripod, however I managed to fire off a couple of shots before the best of the light was gone.

With the sun having a hiatus, I was able to enjoy the soundings. Around me, people were enjoying their picnics, and BBQs. Seagulls were circling overhead while below, the waves were gently lapping the sand. A little moment to unwind, and enjoy the best Cornwall has to offer.

The sun never did re-appear, but I was able to climb back down to the car happy and feeling good.
