Plymouth Hoe

Ref: S2-7199
A glorious sunset from Plymouth Hoe in Devon. As I watched the evening sky develop, and these stripy clouds move in, I thought they evoked the stripes of Smeatons tower on the Hoe - an old lighthouse which originally stood on the Eddystone rocks offshore.
Smeaton's tower revolutionized the way lighthouses were built, and proved so sturdy it even outlasted the rock it was founded on. When a new lighthouse was built (on a different rock), Smeatons's tower as dismantled and transported to Plymouth Hoe where it has severed as a local landmark ever since.
